Mima Preston provides Counselling (CCC) and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) to women and men in Kits, Vancouver, BC.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy offers a way to explore the relationship between your mind, your body, and your feelings in a confidential environment with a certified therapist. By combining talk therapy (counselling) with yoga techniques, yoga therapy facilitates deep exploration and awareness that enables you to know yourself more fully. From this knowing, you are more easily moved to embrace the opportunity for change, growth, and enhanced wellbeing.
A yoga therapy session with Mima begins much like a counselling session where you share what brings you to seek therapeutic support. By spending some time exploring what is important to you, a focus or intention for the session can develop. This focus helps to inform Mima of the yoga postures that may be beneficial in increasing your awareness and exploring the connections between your thoughts and your body.
Once you have expressed what you would like to explore, Mima gently moves and supports your body for you through a sequence of carefully selected poses. At the same time, you will be guided into a dialogue that invites you to explore the sensations, emotions, memories or images that are arising in the moment. In this way, your mind and body have the opportunity to inform you of your strengths, ways to move forward, or new perspectives that can empower you to make changes and experience growth.
Each session concludes with a chance to review what you have found meaningful or stood out as significant throughout your session experience. This review assists you in processing and exploring ways you can bring your insights into action in your personal and daily life.
Sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs regardless of your yoga experience or level of flexibility or physical condition. Sessions are one-on-one basis and are 60 minutes in length. Clients remain fully clothed and should wear comfortable loose clothing. No experience in yoga is necessary to fully benefit from this approach.
